On Tuesday evening, we had the first of our two Celebrating Schools Events. Six of our schools shared information about the programs they offer that make each unique. The schools that presented were Cesar Chavez Middle School, the New Haven Academy, Conley-Caraballo High School, Emanuele, Hillview Crest, and Searles Elementary Schools. Hillview Crest, which was renamed last year to the Hillview Crest Coding and Robotics Magnet School (HVC), was recently recognized by the educational journal EdSource. This article highlights the benefits of UC Davis’s C-STEM coding and robotics program, which is integrated into math instruction at HVC in grades TK-5. HVC has seen a significant boost in math scores since it started using the C-STEM program, and students start learning how to code in transitional kindergarten. Here is the EdSource Article.
