Dear NHUSD Families,
At our school board meeting on August 12, 2025, the Board passed a resolution recognizing Latinx Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15. You can view the resolution, along with supplemental materials provided to teachers to help bring this celebration into classrooms, HERE.
We proudly join communities across the nation in celebrating Latinx Heritage Month as we honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Latinx Americans who have helped shape our schools, our community, and our country.
In a previous update, I shared that we are launching a new initiative this year to strengthen our partnership with families.
We are kicking off the New Haven Family Collaborative with a barbecue for families. This event will take place on Thursday, September 18, at 5:00 p.m. at the Big Green behind James Logan High School and the District’s Educational Services Center (34200 Alvarado-Niles Road).
This free event will include food, games, music, and valuable resources for families. You can sign up to attend this event using the following link: NHUSD Family Collaborative Event Sign Up.
Here is a final reminder about the New Haven Schools Foundation (NHSF) Mutt Strutt, taking place on Saturday, September 20. For more information about this event, please visit the NHSF Mutt Strut website. The NHSF raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for our students and staff members each year, and it counts on our support through events like the Mutt Strutt to make this happen.
