Dear New Haven Families,
Given that Union City was a farming community for decades, it is appropriate to take a moment to reflect on the life of Cesar Chavez especially as Thursday, March 31, was Cesar Chavez Day. Mr. Chavez was an educator, an environmentalist, and a civil rights activist, and led efforts that improved the working conditions for farmers across the country. Our community is a better place because of his work.
The period of time between Winter Break and Spring Break is always a long one. I’m sure that all of you are ready for this upcoming week off. We are happy to be able to provide our staff and students with a take-home COVID test that we hope you use prior to returning to school after spring break. Recommendations on when best to use these tests can be found here [ENGLISH] and [SPANISH].
Earlier this week, we held a public information meeting regarding the revised trustee area maps the Board will be considering for approval. There are only very minor adjustments needed, based on the 2020 census, and you can review these maps on our website. Information about this meeting and maps can be found by clicking here. The NHUSD Board of Education will hold a public hearing on these maps on April 12 to allow our community another opportunity to provide input. They will vote to approve a final map on either April 12 or April 19, if more time is needed.
