Dear NHUSD Families,
Monday is Valentine’s Day, which is typically thought of as a day when we celebrate our love and affection for our partners and significant others. It is also an opportunity for us to give thanks and appreciation to others. I encourage all of you to take this opportunity to thank one of your teachers or staff members who have worked very hard to keep our students engaged in learning throughout the latest phase of this pandemic. I am VERY thankful for all of your support.
Lunar New Year celebrations come to a close next week and Emanuele Elementary School, home to our Mandarin Dual Immersion Program, had a great assembly to celebrate this event. You can check it out here.
We continue to see fewer positive COVID test results as well as fewer student and staff absences, which is good news. This, of course, reflects the trend being seen across California. In addition to the State repealing the mask mandate for many indoor places (not schools) next week, we expect the Governor’s Office to make some announcements about mask mandates in schools possibly as early as Monday. We’re not sure what these announcements will be but we will keep you updated with anything that has an impact on our schools.
We are in the process of gathering information and data in a number of different ways to help inform our plans for next year. One of the ways we do this is to send out a survey annually to our students, parents, and staff members. If you have not filled out this survey, we would appreciate your response. Links to these surveys will be sent to district families every Friday while the surveys are open. Check your email!.
As I shared last week, we are enrolling students for the 2022-23 school year. Please share the following link with anyone who is thinking about enrolling students in our district: Enrollment Information.

Estimadas familias de NHUSD,
El lunes es el Día de San Valentín, que típicamente se considera un día en el que celebramos nuestro amor y afecto por nuestras parejas y personas significativas. También es una oportunidad para agradecer y apreciar a otros. Los animo a todos a que aprovechen esta oportunidad para agradecer a uno de sus maestros o miembros del personal que han trabajado muy duro para mantener a nuestros estudiantes comprometidos con el aprendizaje durante la última fase de esta pandemia. Estoy muy agradecido por todo su apoyo.
Las celebraciones del Año Nuevo Lunar llegan a su fin la próxima semana y la Primaria Emanuele, sede de nuestro Programa de Doble Inmersión en mandarín, tuvo una gran asamblea para celebrar este evento. Pueden verlo aquí.
Seguimos viendo menos resultados positivos en las pruebas COVID, así como menos ausencias de estudiantes y personal, lo cual es una buena noticia. Esto, por supuesto, refleja la tendencia que se observa en todo California. Además de que el Estado anule el mandato del uso de cubrebocas para muchos lugares cerrados (no las escuelas) la próxima semana, esperamos que la Oficina del Gobernador haga algunos anuncios sobre los mandatos del uso de cubrebocas en las escuelas, posiblemente tan pronto como el lunes. No estamos seguros de qué anuncios serán, pero los mantendremos informados de cualquier cosa que tenga un impacto en nuestras escuelas.
Estamos en proceso de recopilar información y datos de diferentes formas para poder preparar nuestros planes para el próximo año. Una de las formas de hacerlo es enviando una encuesta anual a nuestros estudiantes, padres y miembros del personal. Si no ha llenado esta encuesta, le agradeceremos que lo haga.
