Information Regarding Bus Route for Secondary Students

In response to recent state efforts to support student transportation, California began allocating additional funding to school districts to help expand access to transit services. While this funding does not restore transportation to the levels once supported by the State in the early 2000s, it has allowed New Haven Unified to explore options that meet the most pressing needs of our school community.
To ensure this funding was used effectively, the District engaged with key partners and gathered input through two family surveys. These surveys highlighted two primary concerns: the transportation challenges experienced by families living in the northeastern section of the district and broader concerns about traffic congestion during school commute times.
Based on this feedback, and in alignment with state requirements, the District developed a plan that prioritizes access for secondary students. In partnership with Union City Transit, we established a dedicated bus route and expanded service area for middle and high school students. This service continues to be available through youth Clipper cards and is scheduled to align with middle school bell times.
The route operates on weekdays when school is in session and is open to the public, helping to ease traffic while providing students with a consistent and reliable transportation option.

Applications will be processed on a weekly basis. Please allow up to three weeks for processing. You will be notified when the card is ready for pickup. We are working with UC Transit for other options that may help in receiving the cards faster. We will keep everyone informed.
