Lead Campus Safety Technician

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under limited supervision, to perform a variety of technical, instructional, and clerical tasks at the High School site; to monitor and coordinate the daily safety operations on campus.  To review, revise, implement and adhere to the safety plan created by the High School Administrative team, SRO and CST’s.  Disseminate information to other CST members in a professional manner.  Perform related work as required consistent with the job description.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Directly responsible to designated administrator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate from the current CST job description.
  • Confer with supervisor as to Campus Safety Technicians work assignments and reporting times.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of the work performed by CST’s.
  • Assists in implementing district rules and regulations.
  • Assists CSTs in the use of computer programs.
  • Provides clear verbal and written communication.
  • Support and coordinates work of CSTs.
  • Maintains accurate records of operation and generates reports as needed.
  • Recommends work methods and productivity of tasks to help improve work performance.
  • Maintains clean and organized work place for CSTs and makes sure equipment is in good working order.
  • Attends weekly Administrative Cabinet meetings and has a standing item on Safety Report.
  • Confer with SRO and Administrative team and create or update safety assessment plan.
  • Assist certificated and classified employees with preventive discipline by explaining school rules to students and parents.
  • Develop, with the Administrator or designee and SRO, agendas for CST meetings and facilitate team meetings.
  • Coordinate the assessment and selection of safety equipment.
  • Collegial support and peer coaching.
  • Trains substitute CSTs in proper student supervision and zone maintenance.
  • Works cooperatively with other school personnel.
  • Establishes parent/school communication when non-students enter campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must pass qualifying test.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid California driver‘s license.
  • Certificate of completion in first aid, CPR and Conflict Resolution.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A.A. degree in Administration of Justice, Psychology, Psychology, Recreation, Community Education, Sociology or other similar fields preferred.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Paid or volunteer experience working in an educational or organized recreational setting with middle school or high school aged students preferred.  Any combination equivalent to training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities appropriate for working with middle school aged and high school aged students in an educational setting preferred.
