Job Description
Primary Function:
To provide school psychology services that meet the educational needs of each student in the psychologist’s area of responsibility.
Organizational Relationships
Directly responsible to the Director of Special Services. Directly responsible for the supervision of students in the psychologist’s area of responsibility.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivery of services
Will provide the psychological services which are consistent with district and school expectations and which meet the needs of students assigned to the psychologist.- Communication
Will communicate with students, parents, administrators and other staff members in a manner which is consistent with district and school expectations.- Management
Will employ planning, record-keeping, resource management, and counseling environment management practices which are consistent with district and school expectations and which maximize the psychologist’s effectiveness.- Student supervision and welfare
Will provide for student supervision which ensures student safety consistent with district and school expectations.- Professional responsibilities
Will assume professional responsibilities in a manner which meets district and school expectations and ensures continued personal and professional growth.- Goals and objectives
Will implement district goals and objectives for psychologists as modified in the individual’s planning conference.- Other duties
Will perform other duties as assigned.
Ability To:
- Perform professional evaluations of psychological, social and educational needs of students.
- Develop, write and implement comprehensive Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for special education students.
- Utilize various testing techniques, materials, equipment and instruments.
- Counsel effectively with students and parents.
- Prepare and maintain confidential records and files.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Work confidentially with discretion.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Drive a vehicle to conduct work.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
- Provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel.
- Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
