PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Under general supervision, facilitates, participates in, and provides input for system wide, school based, and departmental program planning, evaluation, and development of policies.
  • All program planning and evaluation activities are done in accordance with state and federal laws, regulations and school board policies.
  • Will operate as an advocate with all community populations utilizing skills that respect issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and equity for every student and family.
  • Also, will provide specialized consultative services to school staff, community agencies and other professionals.
  • Will develop and maintain an intern program to maximize mental health services in the district.
  • Services are designed to assist families, students, and educational professionals in providing quality interventions, which allow students to reach their highest educational, developmental and social potential.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to designated administrator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts assessment of student needs.
  • Facilitate group counseling.
  • Provide social skills, anger management, and impulse control training.
  • Substance abuse prevention and awareness.
  • Participate in the evaluation of special education placements and in the development of behavioral modification plans.
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Provide short/long-term case management services to individual students.
  • Referrals to community agencies.
  • Promote parental involvement in the schools/school conferences and parental responsibility for regular school attendance.
  • Serve on the school Crisis Team to promote and maintain a safe, caring, and drug free school and learning environment/child abuse prevention/appropriate discipline.
  • Participate in referrals and case management of students/families involved in the court system.
  • Serve on community interagency teams and other task force teams relevant to School Social Work (Pupil Services, Counseling Collaborative and the School Resource Team).
  • Expand and exchange knowledge through consultation with coordinators, specialists, psychologists, counselors, and other colleagues.
  • Supervise up to 8 social worker interns.
  • Work with Colleges to maintain the number of social worker interns on staff.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate case records and documentation (log) and a statistical, demographic breakdown of current caseload.
  • Understand and practice in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and/or

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability and experience supervising graduate school interns
  • Spanish fluency
  • Experience with students K-12th grade
  • Hold valid LCSW
  • RP in schools
  • teacher consultation around classroom management
  • School climate experience in schools

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Masters Degree from an accredited school
  • Hold valid MSW
  • Hold valid PPSC
  • School based mental health experience
  • Experience with restorative justice principles and practices in schools

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid California driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment
  • Driving a vehicle to conduct work

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: 36/1-5

205 day workyear
