PRIMARY FUNCTION
To administer all aspects of the Food & Nutrition Services program here in the New Haven Unified School District. This includes National School Lunch Program, Campus Food Services, Summer School Lunches, Co-curricular Snack Bar operations, Student Union, and catering events.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Directly Responsible to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervises and evaluates food service employees in accordance with district evaluation procedures
- Is responsible for staffing and scheduling of employees
- Maintains a good working relationship with school administrative staff
- Provides training to food service employees regarding proper food preparation, service and storage in accordance with established standards and procedures
- Plans all menus for NHUSD schools, including special events and catering functions
- Maintains the food service operation in accordance with the National School Lunch Program
- Works on special projects as assigned by the Director of Food & Nutrition Services
- Supervises the cash processing system for the Food Services Department
- Works closely with student groups to ensure that the food service program meets the needs of the students
- Serves as Acting Director of Food & Nutrition Services in the absence of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services
- Assists the Director in the fiscal management of the food services operation
- Coordinates student store food service needs as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE
- Required Food Safety certificate approved by the County Department of Health
- B.S. degree in food service management, dietetics, nutrition or related field desirable
- Significant food service management experience desirable
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a valid California driver’s license
- Must be registered dietitian
