Educational Options at New Haven Unified

Our Educational Options Department provides a wide variety of alternative pathways for all NHUSD students.  We are committed to working closely with our district’s students and families in an effort to ensure successful academic and social-emotional outcomes. Additionally, we are working closely as a team to increase coordination between all of our schools and programs.

New Haven Academy

New Haven Academy offers a flexible, independent study program designed to support students in achieving their academic goals while accommodating individual needs and schedules.

  • Accredited College Prep Program: A–G coursework completed using online curriculum software.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Supports work, health needs, and other commitments.
  • Teacher Support & Student Schedule: Students meet in person with their Advisor once per week for guidance and check-ins, and assessment
  • Structured Academic Work: Complete 20 hours of online coursework each week, independently 
  • Academic Support: Targeted workshops, tutoring, and interventions are available to students 1–2 times per week based on individual needs.
  • Credit Earning: Students are assigned two courses at a time, earning 1 credit per week (up to 25 credits per semester).
  • Extracurricular & Enrichment Opportunities: Access to sports programs, clubs, Career Technical Education (CTE) classes, ROP programs, and College Dual Enrollment courses at James Logan High School.

Conley-Caraballo High School is a small, supportive school community that provides personalized support tailored to each student’s needs. With fewer students on a smaller campus, we can focus on building strong relationships and ensuring every student is seen, supported, and successful.

  • Smaller Learning Environment: Individualized attention and a close-knit community.
  • School Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Flexible Credit Options: Alternative ways to earn P.E. and elective credits.
  • Hands-On Learning: Engaging opportunities such as ROP Project-based learning in the classroom, and the Culinary Arts & Digital Media course
  • College & Career Readiness: Field trips, fairs, guest speakers, workshops, and application support.
  • Community & School Spirit: Clubs, sports, extracurricular activities, and special events that build connection and pride.
  • Eligibility: Open to students in grades 10–12 (must be at least 16 years old).

Conley-Caraballo High School exists to help students get their education back on track so they can earn their high school diplomas and graduate ready for college or career education. CCHS provides each student with an engaging and supportive educational experience geared at meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs.

The Adult School provides flexible learning opportunities for adult learners to complete high school or prepare for the GED, while developing career and language skills.

    • High School Diploma: Earn the required 140 credits to graduate.
    • GED Preparation: Support for adults seeking the GED credential.
    • Career Education: Courses to develop skills for the workforce.
    • English & Citizenship Preparation: ESL courses and guidance for citizenship.
    • Adult Basic Education: Foundational courses to strengthen reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Schedule:
  • Morning: 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Evening: 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
