Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Opportunities (Grades 11–12)

In accordance with California Education Code § 48980.5, students entering or advancing to 11th and 12th grade and their families are entitled to information about local apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs that offer hands-on training in a variety of skilled trades.

These programs allow students to:

  • Learn valuable, job-ready skills
  • Earn while they learn
  • Begin a pathway toward a well-paying career, often without incurring student loan debt

A searchable directory of state-registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs is available from the California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Apprenticeship Standards at www.dir.ca.gov/das/

Families are encouraged to use this database to explore available programs and to request materials (such as brochures or pamphlets) directly from local sponsors listed in the directory.
