Dear NHUSD Families,
At our board meeting on Tuesday night, our board passed a resolution recognizing April as Arab American Heritage Month. You can access this resolution by clicking here. Many members of the NHUSD community have roots in Arab countries. In our schools and workplaces, we cherish the diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our Arab American students, families, and colleagues. Commemorating Arab American Heritage Month helps us ensure that ALL students, staff, and families have their dignity honored and feel like they belong in our district. It is an opportunity for all of us to foster inclusivity, understanding, and respect for all cultures. It is also an opportunity for us to learn from one another, to celebrate our differences, and to stand together in unity against discrimination and bigotry in all its forms.
We are a little more than a week away from our second annual New Haven Day. This year will be even bigger and better than last, with more community partners and great food truck selections from the Food Truck Mafia. Of course, our student performances are the centerpiece of New Haven Day, and viewing these performances will be even easier this year because they will be performed in the JLHS Stadium, and families can sit in the bleachers.
It is not too late to sign up for the New Haven Schools Foundation Fun Run. Our Foundation raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for our students and staff members each year, and events such as the Fun Run are what enable them to do this. You can contribute by being a “Virtual Runner” if you don’t want to run the race. You can sign up HERE.

Estimadas familias de NHUSD,
En nuestra reunión del Consejo el martes por la noche, nuestro Consejo aprobó una resolución que reconoce abril como el Mes de la Herencia Árabe Americana. Puede acceder a esta resolución haciendo clic aquí. Muchos miembros de la comunidad de NHUSD tienen raíces en países árabes. En nuestras escuelas y lugares de trabajo, apreciamos la diversidad de orígenes, experiencias y perspectivas de nuestros estudiantes, familias y colegas árabe-americanos. Conmemorar el Mes de la Herencia Árabe Americana nos ayuda a garantizar que TODOS los estudiantes, el personal y las familias vean honrada su dignidad y sientan que pertenecen a nuestro distrito. Es una oportunidad para que todos fomentemos la inclusión, la comprensión y el respeto de todas las culturas. Falta poco más de una semana para que se celebre por segunda vez el Día de New Haven. Este año será aún más grande y mejor que el anterior, con más participantes de la comunidad y una gran selección de camiones de comida de Food Truck Mafia. Por supuesto, las representaciones de nuestros estudiantes son la parte central del Día de New Haven y ver las representaciones será aún más fácil este año porque se realizarán en el Estadio JLHS y las familias podrán sentarse en las gradas.
No es demasiado tarde para inscribirse en la Carrera Fun Run de la Fundación de Escuelas de New Haven. Nuestra Fundación recauda cientos de miles de dólares para nuestros estudiantes y miembros del personal cada año y eventos como la carrera Fun Run es lo que les permite hacer esto.
