District African American Advisory (DAAA/D3A)

Come join the District African American Advisory (DAAA/D3A) parent group in the New Haven Unified School District and help us create systematic processes to prepare African American students for a required A-G path to college K-12. More information about us, meeting dates, and events can be found below.

Black Graduation and Celebration May 16, 2026

Hello parents and families of Black and African American students in the New Haven Unified School District. With great enthusiasm, the District African American Advisory, D3A, invites you to join us for the 10th Annual Black Graduation and Celebration.

We are proud to recognize students promoting from 5th to 6th grade, from 8th to 9th grade, and graduating seniors from James Logan High School, Conley-Caraballo High School, and New Haven Academy.

The community celebration will also feature special performances, photo opportunities, and a light reception.

Please check your principal’s communications for more information, and mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at James Logan High School.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate Black Achievement and Black Excellence.

Purpose of the District African American Advisory

Create systematic processes to prepare African American students for a required A-G path to college K-12
Incorporate practices that support the purpose into the operation of ALL school sites i.e. Academic Support, Mentorships, Speakers, etc.
Forum to meet and discuss without inhibition
Address policies and practices that inhibit the mission
Celebrations and Recognition
Saturday enrichment programs
