Dear New Haven Families,
Our local NHUSD community is affected by the conflict between Hamas and Israel. We are one of the most diverse school districts in the nation, and we have families and staff members with deep connections to Israel, Gaza, and the surrounding areas. As a school district, we strive to create environments where all students, families, and staff feel welcomed, safe, and treated with dignity. To do this, we have no tolerance for discrimination or harassment. Please report any situations where students are bullied or harassed to your school site’s administration. We hope this isn’t necessary, but we want to address any issues immediately if they do occur.
On a positive note, you have two opportunities to help guide the district over the next three years. We will be holding two Strategic Plan Community Forums next week. During these events, you can learn more about our strategic planning process and provide input and feedback to help create this new plan.
The meetings are as follows:
What: Strategic Plan Community Forum #1
When: Tuesday, October 24, 6:00 p.m.
Where: Union City Family Center, Barnard-White Campus Band Room, 725 Whipple Road
What: Strategic Plan Community Forum #2
When: Thursday, October 26, 6:00 p.m.
Where: Alvarado Elementary School Cafeteria, 31100 Fredi Street
We will provide childcare for school-age children and translation services. To assist us in planning for this, we are asking participants to RSVP. You can RSVP for the Strategic Plan Community Forums HERE.

Nuestra comunidad local del distrito NHUSD se ve afectada por el conflicto entre Hamas e Israel. Somos uno de los distritos escolares más diversos de la nación, y tenemos familias y miembros del personal con profundas conexiones con Israel, Gaza y las áreas circundantes. Como distrito escolar, nos esforzamos por crear entornos en los que todos los alumnos, las familias y el personal se sientan acogidos, seguros y tratados con dignidad.
