Dear New Haven Families,
It is difficult for me to believe that next week will start the fifth week of school, which brings us to the Labor Day Holiday on Monday. The smooth start we had to our school year is directly due to the hard work of our staff members, and the Labor Day Holiday is an opportunity to reflect on and recognize the many contributions that workers have made locally and across the country.
Our staff members make New Haven the special place that it is. I have never worked with a more hardworking and dedicated staff committed to doing what is best for our students. We are fortunate to have collaborative relationships with our labor partners, NHTA and CSEA, and we work hard together to keep New Haven a place where our staff members want to stay. If you get the opportunity, please thank one of our staff members for their service to our students and families.
In recent health-related news, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued new COVID-related guidance for school districts. There are no substantive changes to this guidance, so we will continue to operate as we have been. This guidance is on our website, and you can access it HERE.
On Tuesday of this week, our NHUSD Board of Trustees held a study session to review recommendations related to our facility use procedures and rates. Our staff will take comments and feedback from this session and make necessary changes. We will share all of this information with our community soon. We have tentatively scheduled a public hearing on September 19, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in our Educational Services Center for interested parties to comment on any proposed changes.

Es difícil para mí creer que la próxima semana se iniciará la quinta semana de clases, lo que nos trae al día festivo del Día del Trabajo este lunes. El buen comienzo que tuvimos en nuestro año escolar se debe directamente a la ardua labor de los miembros de nuestro personal y el día festivo del Día del Trabajo es una oportunidad para reflexionar y reconocer las muchas contribuciones que los trabajadores han hecho a nivel local y en todo el país.
Los miembros de nuestro personal hacen de New Haven el lugar especial que es. Nunca he trabajado con un personal más trabajador y dedicado que se compromete a hacer lo mejor para nuestros estudiantes. Tenemos la suerte de tener relaciones de colaboración con nuestros socios laborales, NHTA y CSEA, y trabajamos duro juntos para mantener New Haven un lugar donde nuestros miembros del personal desean permanecer. En noticias recientes relacionadas con la salud, el Departamento de Salud Pública de California (CDPH) emitió una nueva guía relacionada con COVID para los distritos escolares. El martes de esta semana, nuestro Consejo Administrativo de NHUSD celebró una sesión de estudio para revisar las recomendaciones relacionadas con nuestros procedimientos de uso de instalaciones y tarifas. Nuestro personal tendrá en cuenta los comentarios y opiniones de los participantes de esta sesión y hará los cambios necesarios. Pronto compartiremos toda esta información con nuestra comunidad. Hemos programado tentativamente una audiencia pública el 19 de septiembre de 2023 a las 6:00 p.m. en nuestro Centro de Servicios Educativos para que las partes interesadas expresen su opinión sobre cualquier cambio propuesto.
