Account Clerk III

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under limited direction, coordinate and/or personally perform financial recordkeeping work; to prepare financial statements and reports; to assist in preparation of proposals for Federal programs; to perform a variety of responsible clerical work; and to do related work as required, consistent with the job description.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Directly responsible to designated administrators.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates and/or personally performs work in posting expenditure and income accounts of District and Federal budgets
  • Prepares periodic reports for District officials
  • Prepares special financial reports and surveys for the District officials
  • May train other employees as necessary
  • Assists in the budgetary preparation of District and Federal program proposals
  • Assists in maintaining financial records
  • Prepares financial reports for State, Federal, or Local agencies as required
  • Performs a variety of responsible clerical work
  • Composes routine letters and memoranda
  • Types special reports of department activities
  • Operates a computer terminal
  • Controls the data entry and output functions
  • Performs clerical work involved in the receipt, auditing, and scheduling of data processing materials
  • Operates various peripheral data processing equipment
  • Understands accounting and financial recordkeeping principles and procedures
  • Office practices and equipment
  • Principles of training and supervision
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Prepares clear and accurate financial statements and reports
  • Analyzes financial data and reports
  • Makes arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy
  • Trains and supervises subordinate employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Type at a speed of thirty-five (35) words per minute
  • Operate adding, calculating, and bookkeeping machines
  • Pass qualifying test.
