PRIMARY FUNCTION:
- Under general supervision, facilitates, participates in, and provides input for system wide, school based, and departmental program planning, evaluation, and development of mental health and behavioral intervention policies.
- Will train appropriate personnel and provide ongoing consultation and feedback to individuals and classroom teams related to the treatment of mental health and behavioral disorders.
- Additional duties include the development of mental health support plans, behavior intervention plans, functional behavior assessments, and the supervision of Intensive Individual Instruction Services for students with autism and autism-like disorders.
- Services are designed to assist families, students, and educational professionals in providing quality interventions, which allow students to reach their highest educational, developmental and social potential.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to designated administrator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Will conduct behavioral assessment of student needs.
- Collaborates with team to develop social skills and anger management strategies and trainings.
- Participates in the development of behavioral modification plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Delegates and monitors data collection and implementation of behavioral interventions.
- Provide on-going staff observation and feedback related to behavioral treatment integrity.
- Supervision and monitoring of Intense Individual Instruction program. Supervision of paraprofessionals in the Intense Individual Instruction program.
- Make referrals to community agencies.
- Participate in transition planning for students.
- Promote parental involvement in the schools/school conferences and parental responsibility for regular school attendance.
- Conduct home visits/family needs assessments. Facilitate parent groups/parent skills training.
- Expand and exchange knowledge through consultation with coordinators, specialists, psychologists, counselors, and other colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate case records and documentation (log) and a statistical, demographic breakdown of current caseload.
- Fully participate in LEA Medi-Cal and MAA billing requirements.
- Understand and practice in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statutes.
- Attend IEPs including presenting FBA, Behavior Reports and Updated Data
- Update IEP goals with appropriate data.
- Behavior Consultation to sites in general.
- Supports California Autism Professional Training and Information Network (C.A.P.T.A.I.N.) initiative.
- Provide training and ongoing support to classroom teachers and specialists regarding positive behavior intervention in the classroom.
- Provide training and ongoing support for para professionals.
- Provide training and ongoing support in the use of crisis prevention principals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required: Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis Psychology, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology or similar degree.
- Required: Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCABA) or eligibility for certification.
- Required: Minimum of five years experience working with students with autism, ages 3-22.
