Designated Instructional Services Specialist
(Speech, Language, and Hearing; Adaptive P.E.; Nurse)
Job Description
Primary Function:
To provide a designated instructional services program that meets the educational needs of each student in the specialist’s area of responsibility.
Organizational Relationships:
Directly responsible to the Director of Special Services or other designated administrator. Directly responsible for the supervision of students in the specialist’s area of responsibility.
Major Duties and Responsibles
- Delivery of services will provide for the identification of all students in the specialist’s area of responsibility who are in need of designated instructional services and will provide a program of speech, language, and hearing remediation which is consistent with district and school expectations.
- Communication
Will communicate with students, parents, administrators, and other staff members in a manner which is consistent with district and school expectations.- Management
Will employ planning, record-keeping, resource management, and learning environment management practices which are consistent with district and school expectations, and which maximize the specialist’s effectiveness.- Student supervision and welfare
Will provide for student supervision which ensures student safety consistent with district and school expectations.- Professional responsibilities
Will assume professional responsibilities in a manner which meets district and school expectations and ensures continued personal and professional growth.- Goals and objectives
Will implement district goals and objectives for designated instructional services specialist as modified in the individual’s planning conference.- Other duties
Will perform other duties as assigned consistent with the New Haven Unified School District/New Haven Teachers Association contract.
