Office Technician
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under limited direction, to perform a wide variety of specialized and technical tasks and execute complex and responsible clerical work of more than average difficulty, including high level, complex, sophisticated desktop publishing; and to do related work as required, consistent with the job description.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Directly responsible to designated administrators.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs a wide variety of complex work utilizing any one of several computer programs, including high level, complex, sophisticated desktop publishing and preparation of materials for print
- Compiles and records information for preparing reports, computing statistical data, and maintaining file systems
- Provides information and assistance to district personnel and/or the general public regarding services provided by the district or schools
- Receives office visitors in person or over the telephone
- Composes letters or memos independently or from oral instructions
- Operates various computer terminals
- Utilizes specialized computer programs and word processing programs
- Operates a typewriter, copier, and various other equipment
- Assigns and reviews work of student helpers
- Instructs other clerical personnel in the use of specialized computer programs
- Performs responsible and difficult clerical work with accuracy and speed
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Understand and carries out oral and written directions
- Makes arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy
- Compiles and maintains accurate and complete records and reports.
